Key Visual "She blooms for the one who loves her the most." von Lora Lodoli (Kroatien)
My name is Lora Lodoli, I am a self taught illustrator from Zagreb, Croatia. My passion is to create beautiful women’s portraits, highlighting the essence of feminine sensuality and mystery in my subjects. My style of work has developed over several years and it is constantly changing, but I’ve always strived to create “painterly” looking illustrations. In most of my work I incorporate rich impasto looking textures and craquelure texture to imitate a look of classical oil painting. My illustrations are full of symbolism. The interaction between the female figure and nature provoke and emulate romantic, nostalgicy tender feelings and visual metaphors. I believe textures and elements of surrealism and poetry are key components that have transformed my illustrations. They have become part of my own unique style and some sort of identity.
I constantly learn from other artists from various fields, like René Magritte, William Adolphe Bouguereau, Audrey Kawasaki, Aykut Aydoğdu, Flóra Borsi, Janice Sung, but I must say Frida Kahlo has been one of my main inspirations growing up.
Some of my favourite past collaborations include doing packaging design for United Professional, illustration design for Amas Bijoux, album cover “Leave My Mind Sometimes” by Dimitri Toonen, book cover for Nukilan Biruni, designing apparel for Being Her by Hermon and Heroda Berhane.
