Key Visual STROKE 2019 / Bayo
Bayo was born in Mexico City in 1976 and found his artistic vocation at a very young age. By the time he decided to obtain a BA in Graphic Design, his style had already taken shape. This allowed him to lead a parallel life in his career: art director & illustrator by day, and artist by night. In his art director métier, he has designed and illustrated award-winning work for various renowned brands and advertising agencies, in both Mexico and the USA. As an artist, his work has been showcased in many art galleries, books, blogs and magazines in the U.S., Belgium, Spain, Netherlands and Germany.

“His stroke signals a path where anxiety is inescapable and contagious. The scenes simultaneously depict the rigor of obsessive details, the vagueness of repetition, and the sudden explosion of motion, all in an effort to trigger an internal imbalance.”

München STROKE 2018 //
Troy Brooks

b. 1972 in Ontario, Canada. No formal training. My mother was a still life painter. I first learned to draw by sketching the work of Classic Hollywood Studio photographers LIKE George Hurrell, Clarence Bull and Edward Steichen. Their NOIR images of icy art deco goddesses profoundly influenced me. ThAT dramatic narrative lighting and enigmatic pansexuality is sunbaked into the visual themes of my work.

"For us this activity has transformed into a special thematic kind of art. Together with fashion it has given us a freedom to express our contemporary and cosmopolitan vision of beauty. We believe that our mission is to tell you a story and each time it should be a new one allowing to dream and escape into a world of unfettered imagination. Inspired by history and nature we always try to transcend the humdrum and commonplace. We invest a lot to get an authentic look of our dolls.

München STROKE 2015 // Ruben Ireland

Ruben Ireland is an illustrator of strength. There is strength in the jaw-lines of his portraits, in the graphic execution of the finished product and the colours which jump out from the work. In-between the red-raw hands stroking outwards of ‘Paint or Die Trying’ and the half-man/half-ram creations of ‘Amalgamations’ sits a world of dark fairy-tales. These are portraits which stare out stoically awaiting the judgement of the viewer. Girls tend to birds with eyes covered or stare face-to-face with horned, blacked out animals. There is no room for cowardice or worry; there is an acceptance and silent acknowledgement of unspoken understanding between beast, human and viewer. Enter the world of darkened reality and séance-like peace…(Jade French - As You Are Magazine) http://www.rubenireland.co.uk

München 2014 // Saddo

Romanian artist, illustrator and muralist, Saddo started his artistic career as founder of one of the first Romanian street art collectives, The Playground, in a time when a freshly graduated artist didn't have other possibilities than to be a graphic designer or a teacher. But his street art activity brought a fresh fun vibe to his way of perceiving art and the world, and opened doors to many different projects, commissions for advertising agencies, collaborations with galleries in Bucharest, Vienna, Berlin, Copenhagen, Stockholm, New York, Los Angeles, Montreal, Glasgow, Salvador, etc. Going through many different phases and influences, from horror movie posters, street art, comics, Saddo has recently developed his style into more elaborate shapes, with many different influences from old masters of 15th - 17th century, Giuseppe Arcimboldo, Bosch, Brueghel, Walton Ford, naturalistic illustration, pop surrealism, religion, mythology. http://www.saddo.ro/

Self-taught and non-conformist, his influences range from dark graphic novels through to the works of Francis Bacon and Aubrey Beardsley. Vesod was born in Turin in 1981 and he lives and works in a Venaria Reale (TO). His artistic attitude has been fostered by his father Dovilio Brero, surrealistic painter, whose influence has an impact on Vesod since his youth: he has been therefore developing an interest in the graffiti world since the beginning of the 90s. Due to the artistic partnerships and contacts which Vesod has started in those teenager years, he has lately begun his professional path. He has been seeking for ten years a personal painting language in which the graffiti plays a central role, while dedicating time to his own cultural and academic education. Maths, which is the subject he got his graduation in, has an important impact on his works along with renaissance art and futurism.
